Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Night Shift)
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts or 4 weekend days every 6 weeks
- Holidays: As needed
- No on-call required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience required
- First-time travelers are welcome
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all ER RNs)
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia Exam (must pass with minimum 82%)
- EPIC system proficiency required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
Required Licenses and Verifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina with primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
- Education Verification: Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required; foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained outside the U.S.
- Employment Application/Resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment history within the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months and one within 24 months prior to start)
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Background check within 60 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, national criminal search, federal court, sex offender registry, FACIS Level 3, and education verification
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (including THC, opiates, methadone, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, oxycodone, propoxyphene)
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- Fit mask test completed within the current calendar year and updated annually (N95 respirators approved)
- Immunizations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult Tdap vaccine proof required)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (titer or declination with booster series)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (9/22/2025 – 2/27/2026)
- TB testing: Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months of start or chest X-ray if positive history, plus annual TB questionnaire
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
Job Expectations and Policies
- Strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Flexibility with scheduling required
- Pass/fail EKG exam mandatory for all RNs regardless of specialty
- Previous Charge RN and Level 2 Trauma experience preferred but not required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must submit a professional badge photo prior to clearance (no selfies, hats, masks, or altered backgrounds; business casual or uniform attire; forward-facing pose)
- Candidates must complete and upload a health history form including any physician-mandated work restrictions
- Candidates will receive Workday login credentials two weeks before start for onboarding tasks, including multi-factor authentication setup
- Floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement forms must be reviewed and signed by all agency staff
- EPIC test requires a passing score of 80% or higher with up to 2 attempts; additional attempts may be allowed onsite at manager’s discretion
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting, requiring solid clinical experience, multiple certifications, and strict compliance with facility policies and credentialing requirements. First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply.
