Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Night Shift) – Greensboro, North Carolina
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts or 4 weekend days per 6 weeks
- Holidays: As needed
- Call: No call required
Job Description
- Work in the Emergency Department (ED) with a minimum of 2 years of ED experience required.
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
- Previous experience as Charge RN and Level 2 Trauma preferred.
- Must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current certifications in:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department nursing.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (required for badge issuance).
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- Education verification by a third party; foreign equivalency evaluation required if education was obtained outside the U.S.
- Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history.
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years.
- Two supervisory references required from clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months).
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam (must score 82% or higher; two attempts allowed).
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher).
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment.
- Acknowledgment of Pass/Fail testing requirements.
- Facility-specific documents including health history form, dress code review, floating policy, and contractor equipment acknowledgment.
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing).
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (if applicable).
- Fit mask test (annual, specific approved N95 respirators required).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof required)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B – titer or declination with booster series if non-reactive
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months of start; TB questionnaire within 30 days of start and annually.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete Workday login and onboarding tasks prior to arrival.
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here).
- Candidates must be aware of and comply with all facility policies and deadlines, including compliance document submission deadlines.
- EPIC test required with a passing score; two attempts allowed, additional attempts may be granted at manager discretion.
This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a busy Emergency Department with a supportive environment for first-time travel nurses. Compliance with strict credentialing, immunization, and competency requirements is mandatory.
