Registered Nurse - Surgery (Operating Room)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: 06:45 AM – 03:30 PM

Job Description

• Work primarily in a 6-room inpatient/outpatient operating room unit with occasional float to a larger 26-room main OR and level one trauma center.
• Must be able to scrub and circulate in surgeries.
• Experience with Da Vinci XI surgical system is required.
• Ability to scrub posterior eye surgeries and eye trauma cases is necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Demonstrated competency and experience with Da Vinci XI surgical system (required)
• Ophthalmology experience, including ability to scrub posterior eye surgeries and eye trauma cases

Health & Safety Requirements

• COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not mandatory; medical or religious exemptions accepted.
• Positive MMR titers within the last 15 years or appropriate booster schedule.
• Positive Varicella titers within the last 15 years or appropriate booster schedule.
• Tdap vaccination within the last 10 years (no declinations accepted).
• Hepatitis B vaccination series completed or signed declination form accepted.
• Annual 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) test with negative results within the last 6 months; if positive, clear chest X-ray and current TB questionnaire required.
• Fit test for approved respirators completed within 1 year prior to start.
• Influenza vaccine required during flu season (October–March) or must comply with masking and declination protocols.

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam completed within one year prior to start, confirming ability to work without restrictions.
• Non-expired photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Submission packet including resume, job application, employment verification (last 5 years), and professional references.
• Skills checklist completed within 1 year prior to start.
• Competency exam for relevant department with a minimum score of 80%.
• Core competencies completed within 1 year prior to start (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission standards).
• Criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including Social Security trace and county/national searches.
• Ohio fingerprinting and FBI background checks as applicable based on residency duration.
• Drug screen completed within 60 days prior to start (10-panel, lab report required; instant screens not accepted).
• Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance.

Additional Notes

• Floating between OR units may be required based on staffing needs.
• Attestations are generally not accepted; original or verified documentation is required.
• Some health requirements (e.g., boosters, titers) have specific timing and documentation protocols to maintain compliance.

This position is ideal for an experienced OR RN with surgical scrub skills, robotic surgery experience, and the ability to work in a high-acuity trauma and specialty eye surgery environment.
