Description

Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in the Emergency Room (ER) setting.
  • Night shift coverage required.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Orientation includes passing an ECG rhythm recognition test and a medication administration exam (SafeMedicate).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with ED experience within the last year.
  • Current certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Licensure & Certifications

  • Primary source verification of RN license required within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
  • Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and documentation required:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titers with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B – titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Background & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Comprehensive background check required prior to start, including:
    • FCRA-compliant 7-year search (SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification)
    • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually. Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract.
  • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
  • References: 2 professional references from employment within 1 year, from manager/supervisor/charge nurse/director (co-worker references not accepted).

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
  • Modules include facility-specific training and must be completed before badge pickup and clearance to start.
  • Candidates with a break in employment longer than 6 months at this facility must re-complete modules.
  • Candidates transitioning between campuses without a break do not require re-orientation.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start.
  • Candidates with name changes must have consistent legal names across all documents.
  • Physical accommodations available for latex allergies; notification required.
  • Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review.
