Registered Nurse - ER
Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Occasional shifts from 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM as needed
- Up to every other week (EOW) and holiday coverage as needed
- No on-call required
- Patient population includes all ages with special care for cancer, sepsis, medical emergencies, and behavioral health
- Facility specialties include cath lab, women's health, and stroke care
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
Licensure
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, national criminal, federal court, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, education verification, and international searches if applicable
- Education verification by a third party for nursing degree (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript or diploma may be required if education is from outside the U.S. (foreign equivalency evaluation allowed within 30 days after start)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment within last 5 years through third party
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (if applicable) within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult vaccine proof required)
- TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months or chest X-ray if positive history
- TB Questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
- Hepatitis B: Titer or declination with booster series if non-reactive
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (9/22/2025 – 2/27/2026)
Additional Requirements
- Pass Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
- Strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing) must be submitted prior to clearance
- Completion of facility-specific documents including health history form, affiliate packet, floating policy, and contractor equipment acknowledgement
- Completion of Workday login and onboarding tasks prior to start
Special Notes
- STEMI and Stroke facility experience required
- Candidates must review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
- Candidates must complete all compliance by 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date
