Registered Nurse – ER (North Carolina, Burlington)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Occasional shifts from 3:00 PM – 3:30 AM as needed
- Up to every other week (EOW) and holiday coverage as needed
- No on-call required
- Patient population includes all ages with special care for cancer, sepsis, medical emergencies, and behavioral health
- Facility specialties include cath lab, women's health, and stroke care
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Stroke care experience
Licensure
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, national criminal, sex offender, federal court, FACIS Level 3, and education verification
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation if nursing education was obtained outside the U.S. (must be submitted within 30 days after start)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment within last 5 years through third-party vendor
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
- Facility-specific photo for badge (strict requirements: no selfies, no hats, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing)
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding tasks including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup
- Completion and signing of facility floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement forms
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months (if applicable)
- Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, methadone, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, oxycodone, propoxyphene)
- Proof of adult Tdap vaccine
- TB testing: Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months or chest X-ray if positive history
- TB questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination with booster series as applicable
- Varicella immunity via positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Sept 22 – Feb 27)
Testing & Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% to pass)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail, minimum 82%, max 2 attempts with remediation)
- Pass/fail EPIC test (minimum 80% to pass, 2 attempts allowed, additional attempts require manager approval)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance documents must be completed by 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
- Facility will not accept any open hits on background check; all cases must be cleared before start
- Candidates must acknowledge orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing policies
