Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer - Travel/Contract
Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Hours per Week: 40
Unit Details & Clinical Responsibilities
- Experience with 2D/3D Echo, Bubble study, Color Doppler, Imaging with Contrast agents
- Skilled in Pharmacologic Stress Echo, TEE, Treadmill Stress Echo
- Proficient in calculations including Simpson's Rule, Diastology, LV Strain/LV Volume, Proximal Isovelocity Surface Area
- Floating within facility and to nearby location as needed
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend unless otherwise specified
- No call required
Contract Length
- 8 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in specialty
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, with recent experience within the last year
- Experience as an Echo Technician and Cardiac Sonographer
- Valid State of Georgia license for Cardiac Sonographer/Echo Tech specialty
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if applicable to specialty
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Other certifications as applicable per specialty guidelines (verify with clinical lead if unsure)
Compliance & Screening
- Full compliance with all credentialing and onboarding requirements required to start on time
- Clinical screening to determine fit before final manager approval
- Maximum return-to-office (RTO) time: 7 days
- Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
Holidays
- Expected to work major holidays falling within assignment period:
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday
- Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
- New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, must work it; if 2, must work both; if 3, must work 2
Health & Background Requirements
- Background check required within 30 days prior to start, including education verification
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (annual renewal not required)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest X-ray if prior positive
- Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or signed declination (required during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (includes Amphetamines, Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, Cocaine, Opiates, Methadone, PCP, Propoxyphene, THC)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended but not required
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required for RNs and LVNs by agency)
- Color blind testing required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain specialties (verify if applicable)
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
Documentation & Verification
- Two clinical references required
- Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is running (due within 30 days post start)
- State license verification within 30 days prior to start
Additional Notes
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Candidate must comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures
