Respiratory Therapist - Georgia, Albany
Job Details
- Contract Length: 17 weeks
- Setting: ICU and Emergency Room (ER)
- Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts, 7 PM to 7 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Types: Adults and Pediatrics (NICU therapists are separate)
- Typical Patient Conditions: COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, cancers, etc.
- Workload: High volume; average 13-15 patients per shift, approximately 550 treatment minutes per shift
- Ventilators Used: Servo vents (U and I models)
- Call: None
- Weekend/Holiday: Rotating holiday schedule; weekend shifts alternate between Monday-Thursday and Friday-Sunday teams
- Orientation:
- Floor assignments: 2 weeks (hospital/charting orientation + gradual workload increase)
- ICU assignments: Additional week of orientation
- Supervision: Hospitalist or intensivist available 24/7 (MDs or NPs)
- Pharmacy: Available 24/7
- EMR System: Meditech
- Charge Role: Opportunity to run Charge and Clinical Coordinator duties
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
- Experience in Charge roles
- Completion of at least 1 prior travel contract
- Experience working in a facility with 300+ beds
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all respiratory therapy duties including:
- Nebulizer treatments, airway management, vapotherm, BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management
- ABG collection and bedside pulmonary function tests (PFTs)
- Chest physiotherapy (CPT)
- Intubation and bronchoscopy in ICU
- Placement of arterial lines and blood gas management
- Manage up to 4 airways per shift in ICU settings
- Collaborate with hospitalist/intensivist teams during codes and critical events
Additional Information
- Strict 75-mile radius travel rule applies
- Scrub color: Ceil blue (jacket must also be ceil blue)
- No floating assignments
- Interview process includes internal RN interview; no second interview required after approval
- Must be able to work adult ICU and manage ventilators confidently
