Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 - 7:15)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
- Respiratory Therapist position with patient ratios approximately 1:30.
- Patient age groups include Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.
- Floating and on-call responsibilities required.
- Weekend work required every other or every third weekend.
- Scrub color: Black.
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered; local rate adjustment applies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks within 90 days of start, including:
- SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), education verification.
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel (including THC) within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunization or positive antibody titers (no exemptions).
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination.
- Varicella immunity (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal).
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no exemptions).
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation.
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor).
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually).
- Competency exam and unit-specific competency checklists to be completed.
- Must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance for orientation and work access.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for floating assignments.
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing (EKG/medication knowledge) on the first day.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training may be required; if not held, training will be provided onsite.
- Facility-specific documents and agreements must be signed prior to start date.
- Online orientation modules must be completed before starting.
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some documentation requirements waived or accepted on file.
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists seeking a travel contract with a reputable healthcare facility in North Carolina, offering night shifts and a diverse patient population.
