Occupational Therapist (OT) - Home Health (Days)
Location: Fort Dodge, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Days (8 hours per day)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide professional and clinical occupational therapy services as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Patient population primarily requires short-term therapy following hospitalization or nursing home stays.
- Average patients per day: 4-6.
- Coverage area includes travel within a 50-mile radius of Fort Dodge, averaging 200-250 miles per week.
- Weekly team meetings held virtually; monthly meetings in person.
- Orientation includes general organization overview, required online courses, 2 days of EMR (Epic) training, and ride-along/shadow visits.
- Therapy manager support available during the first weeks to assist with documentation and questions.
- Typically fully productive by week 3.
Work Schedule & Requirements
- 36-40 hours per week; OT billable hours begin after 40 hours.
- Summer holiday coverage required for 1-2 of the following: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day.
- Orientation starts every Monday.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of occupational therapy experience.
- State OT license required.
- Valid driver’s license and must have own vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
- Must have a taxable address located more than 50 miles from the facility.
- Work history/resume, skills checklist (completed within 1 year), license verification, required certifications, and one supervisory reference required at submission.
- Not employed by this organization within the last 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Home health experience preferred but not required; training and support provided.
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Orientation includes 2 days of Epic training and shadowing.
- Patient care involves short-term therapy needs post-hospitalization or nursing home stay.
- Interdisciplinary team includes 1 PTA, 1 COTA, 1 PT, and 1 OT on staff.
