Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:30)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work primarily on a step-down unit (no ventilators or pressor support) with telemetry monitoring.
• Patient population includes those with higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, atrial fibrillation, and post-heart catheterization.
• Manage drips such as heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and sotalol initiation.
• Floating to similar units may be required.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend, subject to change based on need.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 1 year of step-down experience within the last year.
• Med Surg and telemetry experience.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Driver’s license required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty.
• Background check covering 7 years within 12 months of start date, including alias and multi-state/county searches.
• E-Verify or attestation required.
• Various federal and state sanction checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC) required within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days.
• Primary source verification of Tennessee RN license within 30 days of start.
• Education verification of highest level completed.
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands.
• Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually (5-panel minimum).
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years if working in high-risk areas.
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required by specified deadlines.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity documentation (positive titer or 2 vaccines).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination.
• Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation.

Orientation and Training

• Completion of online modules (approximately 12 hours) within 72 hours of assignment; mandatory before starting onsite.
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite following online modules.
• Pass/fail testing for medication and arrhythmia competency required prior to orientation (two attempts allowed, 84% passing score).
• Annual core competencies and training including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA blood-borne pathogens, and patient safety goals.

• Floating policy may apply but is not required for this location.
• Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style, plain background, no alterations).
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific compliance checklists and documentation uploads.

This position offers a challenging night shift role caring for complex cardiac and dialysis patients in a telemetry step-down setting, requiring strong clinical skills, EPIC experience, and current certifications.
