Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location

  • Maryville, Tennessee

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Weekend coverage: Every other weekend
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

  • Work involves adult critical care and emergency department settings.
  • Medication systems used: Pyxis and Omnicell.
  • Must have at least 1 year of EPIC electronic health record experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Tennessee.
  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with adult patients in an acute care setting.
  • Current certifications required (must be valid at start):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Driver’s License/State ID required immediately upon signing.
  • Background check covering 7 years within 12 months of start, including alias and multi-state/county searches.
  • E-Verify or attestation required.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
  • Education verification of highest level completed.
  • Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start.
  • Drug screening within 1 year of start, updated annually (5-panel minimum).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start attesting ability to meet physical demands.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (required for RRT working in high-risk areas).
    • Flu vaccine or approved exemption for the current season.
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days of first.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination.
  • Respirator Fit Test to be completed onsite during orientation.
  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, plain background, no obstructions).

Training and Competency Requirements

  • Completion of online orientation modules within 72 hours of assignment.
  • Pass medication and arrhythmia competency exams (if applicable).
  • Annual completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training modules covering universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA blood-borne pathogens, and other required topics.
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required annually.
  • Color blindness testing required if assigned to Emergency Department.
  • Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication required prior to orientation.
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for RRTs.
  • HIPAA and OSHA training acknowledgment required annually.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry their ID while on duty.
  • Floating policy is not required for this location.
  • Candidates must not have any open cases on background checks at start.
  • Candidates with gaps over 30 days between contracts require updated physical and TB testing.
  • Candidates must complete all required documentation and training prior to start; no exceptions.
