Registered Nurse - Step Down
Location: Waco, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Job Description / Clinical Experience
- Care for patients requiring HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula) and BIPAP
- Management of stable GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test)
- Post-operative care for POD#1 CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft), AVR (Aortic Valve Replacement), MVR (Mitral Valve Replacement)
- Cardiovascular and vascular experience including AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) repair, lobectomy, and CEA (Carotid Endarterectomy)
- Management of acute cardiac events: NSTEMI, STEMI, ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome), pacers
- Care for sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB), post diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), respiratory failure, and tracheostomies
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Stepdown nursing experience
- Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- Stepdown nursing experience
Health and Safety Requirements
- Proof of immunizations and health screenings:
- Two MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Two Varicella vaccines or serological evidence of immunity (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Tuberculosis screening:
- 2-step PPD or negative IGRA within 90 days prior to start
- If positive, negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite)
- Annual 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Documentation and Verification
- Current, unexpired driver’s license or state ID matching address on file
- Resume/profile submission required prior to assignment
- Signed assignment agreement required before onboarding
- Confirmation of assignment documentation required at start and with each extension
- Completion of exit survey at assignment end (optional)
