Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery)
Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Labor & Delivery unit with 7 L&D beds and 17 postpartum beds
- 2 OR suites on the unit for C-sections
- Approximately 950-1000 births per year
- High-risk facility managing diagnoses such as preeclampsia, HELLP, placenta previa, preterm labor (PTL), premature rupture of membranes (PROM), etc.
- Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
- MBU/Antepartum located on the same floor as LDR; RNs float between these areas
- LDR RN responsible for admitting, prepping, and recovery of both mother and baby (no separate NBN RN)
- Charge RN typically does not take patient assignments to assist with deliveries
- OB techs present, usually one per shift
- OB provider in-house 24/7; Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) on call; Neonatologist available as needed
- Anesthesia available in-house 24/7
- No respiratory therapy equipment on unit
- Telemetry staff read cardiac strips; RNs are not required to interpret their own telemetry strips
- Electronic fetal monitoring system: Corometric EFM with Cerner/Fetalink
Schedule & Shifts
- 12-hour day shifts (0700 to 1930), occasional PM shifts (1100 to 2300) if needed
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement: every 3rd weekend (option for every other weekend with block scheduling)
- Holiday coverage as needed
- No call or standby requirements
- Scheduling is not self-scheduled but flexible to accommodate preferences when possible
- Block scheduling has been allowed in the past
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Orientation & Dress Code
- 3-day orientation: 1 day hospital-specific, 2 days unit-specific
- Hospital provides purple scrubs for the unit
Additional Notes
- Clinicians who have previously worked at this facility must have a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
