Job Summary
Perform routine and specialized sonographic testing, including general ultrasound and vascular procedures. Provide emergency on-call coverage and support patient testing with necessary clerical tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic general ultrasound examinations.
- Correlate clinical history with the test to be performed.
- Use sonographic skills to identify and record anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.
- Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures.
- Consult with referring physicians and review medical records to determine appropriate procedures.
- Operate and maintain complex ultrasound equipment and related patient assessment devices.
- Differentiate artifacts from normal or pathological processes.
- Follow and improve departmental protocols.
- Provide technical and nursing aid for ultrasound interventional procedures (e.g., biopsy).
- Produce high-quality sonograms and evaluate image technical quality.
- Provide patient care, assessment, and education related to testing.
- Maintain records and EMR documentation.
- Monitor and evaluate equipment performance; report issues.
- Use IT/IS systems for scheduling, booking, and reviewing patient appointments.
- Coordinate scheduling with central scheduling to optimize patient throughput.
- Verify accuracy of medical diagnosis and exam reasons for all appointments.
- Process and forward pertinent forms for EHR documentation.
- Enter orders and charges into IT/IS systems and address billing inquiries.
- Support student learning and contribute to a welcoming educational environment.
- Complete annual compliance courses and maintain required licenses and certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
- Recent Ultrasound Technologist experience within the last year.
- ARDMS certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Additional Information
- Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
- Employer may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the job location.
