Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - Vascular

Location: Macon, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Unit & Shift Details

  • Unit requires experience in both vascular and general ultrasound.
  • Night shift: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:00 PM – 5:30 AM).
  • Weekend call: One weekend per month if needed.
  • Call requirement: One day per week.
  • Floating: May be required to float within the facility or to a nearby hospital as needed.
  • Weekend shifts included in call requirements.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant ultrasound experience.
  • First-time travelers are not accepted.

Work Expectations

  • If assignment includes major holidays, traveler is expected to work:
    • 1 holiday: work that holiday
    • 2 holidays: work both holidays
    • 3 holidays: work two of the three holidays
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.
  • Full compliance with onboarding and credentialing required to start on time; delays may push start date by 2 weeks due to orientation scheduling.
  • Orientation hours are non-billable and vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Ultrasound Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Ultrasound Technologist experience within the last year.
  • One completed travel assignment.
  • Vascular Sonographer experience.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:
    • County and national criminal searches
    • Sex offender registry check
    • Education verification (degree or diploma related to specialty)
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start; if prior positive TB, additional documentation required.
  • Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or signed declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • Color blindness test required; alternative assessment available if needed.
  • Competency exams required for nursing/allied health staff by the agency (not client).
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LVNs by the agency (not client).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain specialties (confirm if applicable).

Additional Requirements

  • Two clinical references required.
  • Verification of most recent work history required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start.

Notes

  • Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers.
  • Manager review of candidate profile occurs within 48 hours of confirmation to ensure fit for unit and schedule.
  • Maximum response time for credentialing (RTO) is 7 days.
  • Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
