Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Position is for an LDRP nurse working between Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Mother-Baby units.
- Must have experience in both L&D and Mother-Baby care.
- Must be comfortable working with the prison population.
- Orientation includes two 8-hour shifts followed by two 12-hour shifts with the department.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
- Minimum 1 year of LDRP (Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum) experience within the last year.
- Labor and Delivery experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- STABLE (post-resuscitation care for newborns).
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Management of Aggressive Behavior (MAB).
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security documentation required.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG clearance.
- Physical exam and fit mask test (3M 1860s, 1860, or 1870+) updated annually.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6-12 months
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or vaccinations
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella titer or vaccinations
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug test including marijuana, completed annually.
- COVID-19 vaccination required prior to start; medical/religious exemptions considered.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required year-round.
Orientation and Documentation
- Must review and bring copies of orientation packets, guidebooks, and travel packets to orientation.
- Required to complete assigned LMS education modules 5 days prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours).
- Must submit photo for badge (passport-style, white background, no hats/masks/sunglasses).
- Required to sign confidentiality, compliance, and commitment agreements prior to start.
- Must provide proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers and local nurses are accepted at the same rate.
- Orientation includes split shifts to facilitate smooth transition into the role.
- Must be prepared to float between L&D and Mother-Baby units as needed.
This position is ideal for RNs with Labor and Delivery and Mother-Baby experience seeking a travel contract in a diverse clinical environment including care for a prison population.
