Respiratory Therapist - Wisconsin, Weston

Job Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Weekend Coverage: Rotating about every 3rd weekend
• Holiday Coverage: Approximately 2 out of 3 winter holidays, every other holiday otherwise
• Call or Standby: Not required
• Dress Code: Dark Green scrubs

Patient Population & Work Environment

• Primarily adult patients; minimal pediatric and neonatal cases (including ER and newborn)
• Coverage areas include Inpatient, ER, ICU, Medical-Surgical floors, and facility emergencies in the clinic
• Hospitalist available 24/7; intensivist present majority of the day; eICU coverage overnight

Job Responsibilities

• Provide basic respiratory therapies including ABGs, EKGs, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management (intubation assist, weaning, extubation)
• Assist with intubation; insert King airways in emergencies prior to provider arrival
• Charge verification and timely, accurate charting in Cerner
• Teamwork and flexibility to assist other therapists as needed
• Orientation includes 3 days: equipment training, department overview/shadowing, and assigned shift orientation

Required Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC (Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) not accepted)
• Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS (AHA)
• Experience with ventilators, BiPAP, basic respiratory treatments, EKGs, and intubation assist
• Previous travel experience preferred but not mandatory

Equipment Used

• Ventilators: PB980, PB840, Servo-U, LTV1200, Hamilton
• BiPAP/CPAP: V60, Home ResMed
• High Flow Oxygen: Optiflow

Additional Information

• Typical workload: 20-25 treatments per day per respiratory therapist (usually 2 RTs per shift)
• May be asked to cover high-risk deliveries on rare occasions
• Staffing independently is rare and generally avoided except in call-in or shortage situations
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Submission note required if clinician has previously worked at this facility; must have a minimum 6-month gap since last employment
