Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy
- Trauma experience required
- Pulmonary function testing (Spirometry) preferred
- 1st time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Patient Population
- Infants to Geriatrics (Primarily adult patients, but includes pediatric intubated patients)
Shift Details
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 to 7:00)
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within facility and sister campus as needed
- No call requirements
Facility / Unit Information
- Level 2 trauma center
- Interventional stroke certified
- Level 3 NICU (regional transport resource)
- Uses Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, Viasys Avea systems
Clinical Responsibilities
- Manage non-invasive and conventional ventilation
- Aerosol therapy
- Bedside pulmonary function tests
- Perform arterial lines and arterial blood gases
- Oxygen management and patient education
- Perform capillary blood gases and draws from lines
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Non-billable orientation hours proportional to contract length
Blackout Dates (No shifts available)
- Night shift: June (full month), July 5th-31st, August 1st-2nd
- Day shift: June (full month), July 15th-31st, August 1st-9th
Holiday Work Expectations
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Required Pre-Employment Documents & Health Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID (photo ID required)
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start (including education verification and criminal checks)
- Diploma or transcript verification for RRTs
- State license verification within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest x-ray if previously positive
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- TDAP highly recommended but not required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required annually
Competency Exams & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required by agency
- Color blindness test required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for telemetry and critical care areas (3 attempts max)
- General competency exam required by agency
References & Verification
- Two clinical references required by agency
- Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months, renewed annually
Professional Appearance & Conduct
- Candidate must review and sign code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start
Additional Notes
- Floating may include work at a sister campus within the same city
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- No call or on-call requirements
