Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Cardio/Neurovascular Med-Surg/Telemetry)
Location: Dothan, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Care
- 42-bed Cardio/Neurovascular Med-Surg/Telemetry unit
- Patient ratio: 1:6 (high acuity)
- Experience with dysrhythmias and cardiac drips (Cardizem, Tridil, Amiodarone) required
- Must be strong with high-acuity patients
Shift & Hours
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Total 36 hours per week
- Block scheduling available; every other week (EOW) required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alabama
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Experience with dysrhythmias
- Experience managing cardiac drips (Cardizem, Tridil, Amiodarone)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Compliance & Documentation
- Flu vaccine required with medical or religious exemptions accepted (facility-specific exemption form required)
- COVID vaccine voluntary
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form (time sensitive, must be completed prior to orientation)
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 90 days of start, no instant/rapid tests accepted
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific approved mask models only)
- Proof of 2 clinical references within last 12 months (up to 18 months if necessary)
- Employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually
- HIPAA attestation and Core Exams I-III from Prophecy highly preferred (RN network Orientation Module not accepted)
- Facility-specific modules must be completed by the Friday prior to start (sent directly to candidate)
Dress Code
- Scrubs: Navy bottoms and white top
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must live at least 90 miles from the facility (no local candidates)
- Return to Office (RTO) preferred 3–5 days, maximum 7 days during the 13-week contract
- Former permanent staff ineligible for 10 years
- Candidate must bring a valid driver’s license matching the name on RN license on the first day
- Photo for badge required within 72 hours of signing (passport-type, no nose rings)
- Preferred name for badge must be confirmed prior to start
This position requires a highly skilled RN with cardiac and telemetry experience, strong compliance with facility policies, and readiness to work night shifts in a high-acuity medical surgical environment.
