Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Facility Type: Short-term acute care, major teaching hospital, Level I trauma center
Charting System: EPIC
Job Description
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- First-time travel therapists accepted
- Guaranteed hours
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic charting system
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including:
- SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable)
- Education verification for Respiratory Care program graduation
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start
- OFAC sanctions list search within 30 days of start
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel (including THC) within 30 days of start; instant tests not accepted
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years, no exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine (required annually during flu season; no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, including at least one supervisor
- Employment application with 7 years of work history
- Annual skills checklist update
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- Setup of facility guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
Notes
- Locals within 75 miles may be eligible for local rate
- Candidates must complete all required online orientation modules prior to start
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card training may be provided onsite if not already held
- Candidates must complete competency checklists within 3 weeks after start date
- No prior travel experience required for this position
This position offers an opportunity to work in a nationally ranked, major teaching hospital with a Level I trauma center designation, providing care in a fast-paced acute care environment.
