Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Santa Monica, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D) with float requirements to Postpartum (PP) and RR Perinatal Department as needed
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Weekend/Holiday: Rotation required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID
• Background checks within 30 days of start, including:

  • Social Security Trace
  • 7-year National Criminal History Search (County searches)
  • National Sex Offender Search
  • FACIS Level 3 (includes OFAC)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG searches (annual requirement)
• Education verification: BSN or MSN required for RNs (diploma or official transcripts acceptable)
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
• Facility-specific documents including:

  • HIPAA training and acknowledgment
  • Harassment Prevention Training (CA mandated)
  • Confidentiality Agreement
  • Access Request Form (not required for RNs)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN Intermediate preferred/required for L&D units)
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Negative QGold TB test within 1 year (TSPOTs and PPDs not accepted)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity documentation (positive titer or 2 vaccine proofs)
  • Varicella immunity (positive titer or 2 vaccine proofs)
  • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination signed within 1 year
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination within past 10 years
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or signed declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccine dose or declination (vaccine must be administered on or after 9/12/2023)
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months (Aya requirement)
• References: Two required, supervisor level or above, one within the last year with dates of affiliation
• Employment application covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Work history verification for last 5 years with gap explanations

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for certain units, check if applicable)
