Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg (Nights)
Location: West Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily on a 34-bed unit specializing in orthopedics and total joint replacements.
- Administer specific cardiac medications via IV/intravenous push (highly preferred).
- Required to float across multiple campuses within the local area.
- Expected to work 36-40 hours per week; overtime applies after 40 hours.
- Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
- Use EPIC electronic medical records system.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:5, Nights 1:6.
- Dress code: navy blue solid scrubs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Iowa
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical experience, including experience within the last year
- Orthopedics and Rehabilitation experience, including care for total joint replacements and braces
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system
