Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (PCU Float Pool)
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (3 shifts per week)
Job Summary
Seeking travel RNs for a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool. The unit cares for patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COVID, respiratory issues, GI problems, diabetes, post-cardiac catheterization, and total joint replacements.
Unit Details
- Unit: Telemetry – Cardiac/Medical, 3rd Floor
- Beds: 49
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-15
- RN Responsibilities: Interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift
- Drip Management: No titration required; set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips used
- Respiratory Equipment: BiPAP, CPAP, breathing treatments available
- Orientation: 1 shift on unit
- Floating: May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Required Certifications & Exams
- Current state RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- Must pass dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing (failure results in 6-month disqualification for certain regions)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent Medical/Surgical and Telemetry experience
- Minimum 1 year Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips
- Some experience with CVA (stroke) and TIA patients
- Total joint replacement patient care experience recommended
- Cerner electronic health record experience recommended (orientation is only one day)
Scheduling & Work Requirements
- Schedule made in 4-week blocks with self-scheduling (finalized by manager)
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Work 2 days and an evening or 2 evenings and a day during Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving holidays
- No call or standby required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past year at any facility associated with certain large healthcare systems within a 50-mile radius.
- Charge Nurse and House Supervisor available on unit
