Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Patient population primarily Medical-Surgical (MS), posted as MS Tele due to EKG requirement and tele-capable unit.
- Schedule includes every other weekend and holidays as needed.
- Float required across all facilities as needed.
- Care for observation patients, respiratory conditions, general medical-surgical diagnoses, palliative/end-of-life/hospice patients, psychiatric observation, diabetes (including new and complicated cases), surgical and surgical observation patients.
- Use of EPIC electronic health record system.
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Medication Administration Badge (MAB).
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit (check with program management).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications not required for this position.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) may be preferred but not required.
- NIH Stroke Certification required for Cardiac Progressive Care and MS/Tele units.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable; minimum passing score 80%.
- Color Blind Testing required; minimum passing score 90%.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (see above).
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.).
- Proof of adult Tdap vaccination required.
- TB testing: QGOLD or TSPOT within 6 months of start; chest X-ray if positive history.
- Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines at least 28 days apart. Medical exemptions considered with documentation.
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination with booster series documentation.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart. Medical exemptions considered with documentation.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 22 – Feb 27). Declinations not accepted.
Facility & Compliance Notes
- Candidate must complete and upload a health history form prior to clearance.
- Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements: no selfies, no filters, full-size, business casual or uniform attire, solid color background, forward-facing pose.
- Floating policy applies to all agency staff; candidates must review and sign.
- Contractor equipment acknowledgement form required.
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions; not applicable here.
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
- Compliance deadline for all documentation is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date.
Additional Information
- Candidates will receive Workday login credentials two weeks before start and must complete onboarding tasks including multi-factor authentication setup.
- Facility uses EPIC; candidates must pass EPIC test for clearance.
- Candidates must be prepared to float across multiple facilities if needed.
- Prior charge nurse experience is preferred but not mandatory.
This position offers an opportunity to work nights in a primarily medical-surgical setting with a supportive team and a variety of patient populations. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
