Description

Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Night Shift

Location

  • Lincoln, Nebraska

Contract Details

  • Length: 13 weeks
  • Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:30–07:00)
  • Weekend and holiday work as needed
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Floating assignments to PCU or Burn units

Unit Information

  • Department: Medical-Surgical
  • Unit beds: 42
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: Typically 1:5-6; 1:6 ratio occurs at least once a week
  • Patient types: Medical, surgical, orthopedic
  • Charge nurse present on each shift and takes patient assignments
  • No titratable drips except Heparin
  • Respiratory therapist available 24/7 on the floor
  • Telemetry monitors on the floor with a centralized telemetry station
  • Nurse aides/patient care techs present with ratios of 1:10-12

Orientation & Training

  • Orientation: 1 week classroom plus two 12-hour floor shifts
  • RN must pass a 90% score on an open-book skills exam during orientation (failure results in contract termination)

Requirements & Policies

  • Valid RN license in Nebraska
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Current BLS certification
  • Valid driver’s license required at submission to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius
  • Candidates cannot be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system within the 50-mile radius
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs (provided)

Additional Notes

  • Return to office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
