Description

Job Opportunity: RN Step Down

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)


Job Description

  • Work on a unit with the greatest need, which may be Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical, or Telemetry step-down units.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry acute care.
  • Position accepts RNs with Med-Surg or Stepdown experience; credentialing is the same for both.
  • Must be able to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles as needed.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is required.

Required Qualifications

Licensure

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Stepdown experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Med-Surg and Telemetry experience.
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment.

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications

  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Onboarding Requirements

  • Completion of onboarding modules including:
    • Nursing contingent worker education attestation.
    • Contract worker onboarding completed onsite.
    • Pre-hire modules specific to non-allied positions.
    • Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
  • Submission of professional documents:
    • Resume/profile.
    • Two professional references.
    • Criminal background check including social security trace, OIG search, and national sex offender registry.
    • Employment verification for the past seven years.
    • Education verification relevant to clinical work.
    • Confirmation of assignment documentation.
  • Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
  • Name change documentation if applicable.

Additional Information

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Floating to other units or nearby sites may be necessary based on staffing needs.
  • Must be able to work night shifts.
  • All exams and certifications have specific passing score requirements and retake limits.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a strong background in PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry acute care who are comfortable working night shifts and flexible with unit assignments.
