Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Iron Mountain, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day/Night rotation
Hours: 12 hours per shift, approximately 36 hours per week
Job Overview
- Provide respiratory care across multiple hospital areas including Emergency Room (ER), inpatient floors, Operating Room (OR), and Acute Care Unit (ACU).
- Patient population primarily adults; pediatric patients mainly in ER and rare admissions; also involved with OB deliveries and critical neonates.
- Manage respiratory treatments such as ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, arterial blood gases (ABG), nebulizers, conscious sedation, and end tidal CO2 monitoring.
- Respond to Rapid Response Teams (RRT) and code situations including code blues, c-sections, and conscious sedations.
- Intubation performed with physician present; experience with intubation preferred.
- Must be comfortable working as the sole respiratory therapist on shift.
- Floating within the hospital required.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC.
- Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS (AHA).
- Experience responding to codes and rapid response situations.
- Strongly prefer candidates with prior travel experience.
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Schedule created by management; staff expected to fill scheduling gaps.
- Weekend work required every or every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), depending on schedule.
- Holiday work required if holiday falls on a scheduled shift.
- No on-call or standby call responsibilities.
- Scrubs provided on site; wearing own scrubs or street clothes into work is allowed.
- Department orientation lasts 2 days focusing on equipment and protocols.
Equipment & Support
- Equipment brands include Drager ventilators, Phillips BiPAP/CPAP V60, Arivo high flow devices, with Hamilton ventilators planned for future use.
- Hospitalist available during the day; telemedicine coverage at night.
- ER physician on site 24/7 responding to codes.
Additional Notes
- Clinicians who have previously worked for this employer must have a minimum 6-month gap since last employment to be eligible.
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.
