Description

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Night Shift)

Location: Dover, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Emergency Department (ED)
  • Shift: Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
  • Total Hours per Week: 36

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1.5 years recent Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current PALS certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID) required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
  • Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
    • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required annually (no declinations accepted)
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start

Orientation & Training Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test)
  • Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation required during orientation (90% passing for medication, 80% for ECG)
  • Facility-specific documents including compliance checklists, patient care checklists, confidentiality agreements, and COVID-19 questionnaire must be completed prior to or on day 1 of orientation
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background)

References & Work History

  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director; co-worker references not accepted)
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with minimum 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment

  • Candidates with a break in employment longer than 30 days may need to update physical exam and eye exam if older than 1 year
  • Candidates must comply with all health and safety requirements including latex allergy notification if applicable
