Registered Nurse (PCU) - Night Shift
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking experienced Night PCU Registered Nurses for a fast-paced progressive care unit. The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs.
Work Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts (18:30 - 07:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Every third holiday required
- No call or standby requirements
Unit Details
- 35 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
- Nurse aide/patient care tech ratio: 1:10 or 2:20
- Charge nurse present on each shift (does not take patient assignment)
- Nurses are required to titrate drips (e.g., Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure medications)
- Floating to medical floors, ICU, or rehab may be required
Orientation
- First week: onboarding
- 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years as an RN
- Minimum 1 year of experience on a PCU or similar unit
- Current BLS (AHA) certification
- Current ACLS (AHA) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Valid driver’s license (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
Additional Requirements and Policies
- Candidates must not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system within a 50-mile radius
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in contract termination
- RN candidates must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book exam during orientation to continue employment
- Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
