Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Greensboro, North Carolina
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 26 weeks (must accept full 26 weeks if offered)
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Unit: Med-Surg/Telemetry (posted as MS Tele due to EKG requirement; patient population primarily Med-Surg)
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday rotation
- Float: Required to float across all facilities as needed
- Charge RN: Must be willing to work Charge RN shifts as needed
Job Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care on a Med-Surg/Telemetry unit
- Use of Rapid Response teams
- Administer blood products
- Manage peripheral lines and start IVs
- Administer Heparin, Insulin, and PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia)
- Provide care involving nasal cannula oxygen delivery
- Follow isolation precautions
- Maintain 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratios
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance and Onboarding Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, criminal, sex offender, federal court, FACIS Level 3, and education verification
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained outside the U.S.
- Education verification by a third party (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript or diploma copy for highest education level
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
- Pass/Fail EKG exam (mandatory for all RNs except Behavioral Health or Case Managers)
- EPIC test with passing score (2 attempts allowed)
- Physical exam (if applicable)
- Fit mask test (annual, approved N95 respirators required)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer proof
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Completion of Health History Form and upload prior to clearance
- Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Completion of floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement forms
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing pose)
Testing and Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (80% minimum score)
- Competency exam as applicable (80% minimum score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail, 82% minimum score, max 2 attempts)
- Color vision test (required unless non-clinical)
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication (2 attempts allowed)
References and Work History
- Two supervisory references required from clinical positions:
- One reference from an assignment within 12 months prior to start
- One reference from an assignment within 24 months prior to start
- Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history
- Verification of all employment within last 5 years through third party
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be aware of and agree to the mandatory questionnaire prior to submission
- Candidates must complete all compliance requirements by 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
- Candidates must be prepared for a zero-tolerance policy on tardiness and unexcused absences
