Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Patient population primarily Medical-Surgical (MS), posted as MS Tele due to EKG requirement and telemetry-capable unit.
- Schedule includes every other weekend (EOW) and holidays as needed.
- Float to other facilities within the health system may be required.
- Care for observation patients, respiratory conditions, general medical-surgical diagnoses, palliative/end-of-life/hospice patients, psychiatric observation, diabetes (including complicated cases), and surgical patients.
- Use of EPIC electronic health record system.
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in North Carolina.
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in Med Surg/Telemetry.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Must pass a mandatory Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding.
- Must pass an EPIC competency test (2 attempts allowed; additional attempts may be granted at manager’s discretion).
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card required for badge issuance.
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, including aliases and multiple search levels. No open hits allowed.
- Education verification by a third party required; foreign equivalency evaluation required if education was obtained outside the U.S.
- Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months).
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history required.
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third party vendor.
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.
Certifications & Exams
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia/EKG exam required (minimum 82% to pass).
- EPIC test required with a passing score of 80% or higher.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required.
- Other certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Certification) may be required depending on unit assignment; verify with program management.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (including THC, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.).
- Proof of adult Tdap vaccine required.
- TB testing (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months of start; chest X-ray if positive history.
- Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) required.
- Hepatitis B titer or declination required.
- Varicella immunity or vaccination required.
- Fit mask test (N95) completed within the current calendar year and updated annually.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/22/2025 – 2/27/2026).
Compliance & Onboarding
- Candidates must complete a health history form and upload prior to clearance.
- Facility-specific documents including dress code, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgement, and badge photo (strict photo requirements: no selfies, no hats, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing pose).
- Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed before arrival.
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here).
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
- Compliance deadline is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date.
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome.
- Float assignments may require working across multiple facilities within the health system.
This position offers an opportunity to work nights in a telemetry-capable medical-surgical unit with a diverse patient population, requiring strong clinical skills and flexibility.
