Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU (Nights)

Location: Petoskey, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Nights
Hours per Day: 12
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), which manages over 4,000 cardiology patients annually, including post-op open heart surgery patients (18-24 hours post-op).
  • Care for patients undergoing procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers.
  • Manage patients with congestive heart failure and electrophysiology studies.
  • Participate in clinical trials managed by the research department.
  • The unit has received a Silver level Beacon Award and was redesigned by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).
  • The hospital is recognized as a Top 50 Heart Hospital in the U.S.
  • EMR system used: Cerner
  • Dress code: Navy Blue Scrubs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Michigan
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Critical Care Float experience within the last year
  • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing ventilators.
  • Experience with CRRT and balloon pumps.

Additional Information

  • Strict 3-strike attendance policy: termination after 3 absences or being more than 20 minutes late, with exceptions for documented communicable disease or hospitalization. Policy effective 6/1/2024.
  • Full-time employees of the hospital system are not eligible for contract hire within six months of employment.
  • Local traveler policy applies for those living within 35 miles of the facility.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity cardiovascular ICU with a focus on advanced cardiac care and research participation.
