Location

Unit Details
- Primary role in Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) not accepted
- Must be proficient and able to function independently in critical care of neonates (>22 weeks gestational age), including:
- Intubation
- Obtaining arterial blood samples
- Assisting in high-risk, low-volume bedside procedures
- Must also possess adult critical care skills, including:
- Intubation
- Airway management
- Arterial line insertion
- Floating within hospital and to a nearby hospital as needed
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
- No on-call required
Shift Details
- Day shift
- 3 shifts per week
- 12 hours per shift (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM)
- Total 36 hours per week
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- STABLE certification
- Adult critical care experience including intubation and airway management
Compliance & Screening
- Full compliance with all credentialing and onboarding requirements required to start on time
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit before final approval
- Maximum return-to-office (RTO) time: 7 days
- Must work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Orientation
- Non-billable orientation hours proportional to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Orientation schedule is bi-weekly
Health & Background Requirements
- Background check required within 30 days of start; must be complete prior to start
- Education verification required; diplomas required for RRTs
- Physical exam within 12 months of start required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months required; if past positive, additional documentation required
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; results must be available before start
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended but not required
Additional Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Color blindness testing required; alternative assessment available if needed
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for critical care specialties; up to 3 attempts allowed
Documentation & Policies
- Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills checklist within 12 months required
- Verification of most recent work history required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
