Description

Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer (Travel/Contract)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Contract Length: 10 weeks


Unit Details

  • High volume structural echo lab performing TEE, stress echo, and complete TTE with Lumason contrast, 3D, and Strain imaging.
  • Patient population includes inpatient, ICU, and outpatients.
  • Procedures include structural echos related to TAVRs, Mitral Clips, MVRs, TVRs, ASD closures, and scanning patients with devices such as LVAD, Impella, and ECMO.
  • Supports organ recovery center and spine center.
  • Sonographers enter preliminary reports and maintain strong collaboration with cardiologists.
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed.
  • Holidays coverage required as specified below.

Schedule

  • Workdays: Friday through Monday
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
  • Call: One week of call twice during the 13-week contract period (note: contract here is 10 weeks, so call expectations may be prorated or adjusted)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Echo Technologist.
  • Echo Technologist experience within the last year.

Holiday Work Expectations

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler must work it.
  • If 2 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler must work both.
  • If 3 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler must work 2 of them.
  • Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.

Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Must pass clinical screening to determine clinical fit.
  • Full compliance with all onboarding and credentialing requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week start delay due to orientation scheduling.
  • Locals accepted at same rate.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must hold a valid State of Georgia license appropriate for Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer role.
  • ACLS, BLS, and other certifications are specialty-dependent; verify requirements based on clinical track.
  • National certification verification required if applicable.

Onboarding & Documentation Requirements

  • Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required.
  • Background check required within 30 days prior to start; must include criminal, sex offender, education verification, and other standard checks. Background cannot be pending at start.
  • Education verification required; diplomas or transcripts may be required if education cannot be verified electronically.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start required (not required by client but required by agency).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable; cannot start with results pending.
  • TB testing (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months of start; if prior positive, additional documentation and chest x-ray required. TB questionnaire required annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
    • MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed.
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed.
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination.
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31).
    • TDAP highly recommended but not required.
  • Color blindness test required; alternative assessment available if needed.
  • Competency exams as required by specialty and agency (e.g., medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG competency).

Additional Requirements

  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months required.
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.
  • Two clinical references required.
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start.

Orientation

  • Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 10 hours for 10-week assignment).
  • Maximum return-to-office (RTO) time is 7 days.
