Registered Nurse - CVOR (San Francisco, CA) - Travel/Contract

Job Details

  • Location: San Francisco, California
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (either 9:00 AM–9:30 PM or 11:00 AM–11:30 PM)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Float: Ability to float to other facilities within the system

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR)
  • Experience in Hybrid Operating Room

Certifications & Competencies

  • Must have original AHA BLS card at orientation and while working
  • ACLS must be AHA-approved (no placeholders)
  • Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication exams required on first day of orientation for applicable units
  • Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams required within 12 months of start, with passing scores of 80% or higher
  • Core clinical training modules (Parts I, II, III) must be completed annually with passing scores of 80% or higher

Background & Verification Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including specific county and nationwide checks
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript required
  • Work history verification for 7 years, matching resume (gaps of 30+ days must be explained)
  • Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent employment
  • Current and updated resume including last 7 years of work history

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required); onsite fit testing available as last resort
  • Negative TB testing: two negative TB tests required (one within 1 year, one within 3 months of start) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
  • Required immunizations or titers with valid documentation:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted except medical exemptions)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted)
  • Standard 9-panel drug test (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-Apr)
  • COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required

Additional Requirements

  • Completed references must be submitted at time of application
  • Ability to complete required learning modules prior to or on first day of orientation
  • Pass/Fail testing on telemetry and medication knowledge on first day of orientation
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) may be required depending on unit
  • Compliance with facility-specific policies including HIPAA, cybersecurity, and emergency contact information
  • Completion of annual TB questionnaire and other health screening forms as required

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with required licensure and certifications, ready to work day shifts in a high-acuity surgical environment with floating flexibility.
