Description

Echo Sonographer - Cardiology (Contract)

Location: York, Maine
Employment Type: Contract
Schedule: Monday - Friday between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; weekend call required (1 weekend on, 4 weekends off), Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
Hours per Week: 40


Job Description

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in hospital and office settings under supervision of cardiology providers and leadership.
  • Prepare patients and diagnostic equipment for imaging procedures; explain procedures and answer patient questions.
  • Obtain high-quality echocardiographic images including Transthoracic Echo, Stress Echo, and Transesophageal Echo (TEE).
  • Assist physicians in interpreting imaging data and ensure proper record keeping.
  • Deliver patient and caregiver education, acting as a patient advocate.
  • Maintain clinical competence in all echocardiography modalities and adhere to hospital protocols and standards of care.
  • Demonstrate competence in equipment operation, patient monitoring, archiving studies, and supply management.
  • Organize exam rooms, assist with quality monitoring, record keeping, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, clinical staff, and support staff to meet practice and patient needs.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced, changing healthcare environment while maintaining professionalism and teamwork.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist, with experience within the last year.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential through ARDMS.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers or ability to obtain within the preliminary employment period.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

  • Accurate and timely completion of timecards is mandatory; improper submissions will be rejected.
