Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Job Description
Seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery RN to provide care in a high-volume delivery service environment, specifically within Women's Emergency Department/OB Emergency Department.
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications:
- Current Registered Nurse license in Texas
- BLS Provider certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (American Academy of Pediatrics)
- Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery/Perinatal experience in a high-volume delivery service
- Preferred: 3-5 years of perinatal clinical experience in a high-volume delivery service
Education:
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing school required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Additional Preferred Certifications:
- S.T.A.B.L.E. Program certification
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Professional documentation including current license verification and resume/profile submission
- Completion of specialty competency exams and core competencies with minimum passing scores
- Health and immunization requirements including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (mask required if declined)
- Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest X-ray if positive)
- Fit testing for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start)
- Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment and annually thereafter
- Background checks including criminal history, employment verification, and drug screening (12-panel)
- Completion of required onboarding education modules and skills checklists prior to or shortly after start
- Driver’s license or state ID valid and matching address requirements
Additional Information
- This position requires competency in fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation in a fast-paced labor and delivery setting.
- Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement.
- The role involves working night shifts in a specialized women’s emergency/obstetrics unit.
