Cath Lab Technologist
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 07:00 AM – 03:30 PM
Job Description
- Prepare and position patients; select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
- Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice and regulations.
- Monitor patients during procedures; report abnormal activity.
- Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
- Perform diagnostic, specialized radiographic, and cardiovascular invasive procedures using ionizing radiation.
- Produce quality radiographic images for physician interpretation; perform complex image manipulation and data analysis.
- Train and mentor medical imaging staff in specialized imaging techniques and sterile/infection control procedures.
- Conduct complex patient assessments including vital signs, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, heart rhythm, venous and arterial access (with physician present), urinary catheterization, suturing, compression, bandaging, and distal pulse checks.
- Perform wire and catheter manipulation and placements as permitted by license.
- Maintain sterile equipment and procedure environment; comply with infection control standards.
- Manage inventory, supplies, procedure scheduling, authorizations, and documentation to maximize reimbursement potential.
- Interview patients and provide pre- and post-procedure education to patients and families.
- Document patient radiation exposure and assist medical radiation physicist.
- Respond to emergency situations and participate in call-back rotations as required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Valid Driver’s License
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
- Two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Two Varicella vaccines or serological evidence of immunity (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Annual Fit Test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
- Two-step PPD or IGRA testing for tuberculosis with required follow-up documentation.
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
Additional Requirements
- Valid, unexpired Driver’s License or State ID matching address on file.
- Completion of criminal background checks including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 90 days prior to start.
- Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days prior to start and updated annually or after breaks in service.
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and skills checklist prior to or at start of assignment.
- Ability to work on-call and rotate through room, case, and call-back assignments.
