Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Burlington, North Carolina
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry unit)
- Location: Burlington, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday (EOW/EOH)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Population: Primarily Medical-Surgical (MS) on a telemetry-capable unit
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Floating: Must float to all campuses as needed for patient care
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Pass/fail EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam required for all RNs (minimum 82% to pass)
- EPIC test required with passing score (minimum 80%)
- Other certifications may be preferred depending on unit (e.g., TNCC, CPI) – verify with manager if applicable
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases and national searches
- Education verification by a third party (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment within last 5 years through third party
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
- Facility-specific documents including health history form, floating policy, dress code acknowledgment, and contractor equipment acknowledgment
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer proof
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Fit mask test completed within current calendar year (approved N95 respirators only)
- NURSYS license verification within 60 days of start
Important Notes
- The client enforces a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences; flexibility with scheduling is required.
- Candidates must complete all compliance requirements by 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date.
- Candidates must acknowledge and pass all required tests including EPIC and EKG exams.
- Floating to multiple campuses is mandatory.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Candidates will receive Workday login information two weeks before start for onboarding tasks including multi-factor authentication setup.
- Fingerprinting is required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here).
Summary
This is a night shift travel RN position on a telemetry-capable medical-surgical unit in North Carolina requiring at least 2 years of RN experience, EPIC proficiency, telemetry monitoring experience, and flexibility to float across campuses. Compliance with strict background checks, immunizations, certifications, and testing is mandatory. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
