Registered Nurse – Med-Surg Telemetry Unit
Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 4 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Includes weekends and holidays; no call required
- Patient Population: Cardiac, Diabetes, CHF, COPD, Renal, General Surgery, Orthopedics
- Unit Size: 42-bed Med-Surg Telemetry unit
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Floating: May be required to float to like or lower acuity units
- Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
- No local candidates within 50-mile radius accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated every 30 days while on assignment
- Education Verification: Diploma or transcript required, must be completed within 90 days of start
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted except as placeholder)
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (or proof of past positive with required documentation)
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B titer (vaccine series alone not accepted)
- Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or physician-documented history)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (titer or DTaP not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 – Feb 28) with medical or religious exemptions accepted (declinations not accepted)
- COVID vaccination proof if vaccinated; unvaccinated candidates must complete declination form
- Additional Compliance:
- Fit mask test (as applicable)
- Skills checklist and unit competency exam required
- Facility-specific forms including confidentiality, code of conduct, certification acknowledgements, TB questionnaire, COVID screening, and user access forms must be completed and signed as required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must include Return to Office (RTO) documentation in submission to be honored at time of offer
- Orientation includes completion of LMS modules and facility-specific training
- NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training required for ER RNs; ICU/IMCU/MS/Tele RNs require online CPI certification
- No call responsibilities
- Facility uses latex-free PPE; latex allergies are acceptable
This position offers experience across a diverse patient population in a busy Med-Surg Telemetry setting with a supportive interdisciplinary team including RNs, LPNs, PCTs, CNAs, and unit secretaries.
