RN ICU - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Description
- Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH).
- Preferred experience in CVICU and Neuro ICU, but not required.
- Will float to Neuro ICU and Burn ICU; patient assignments will be within skill set.
- May be assigned patients in Med/Surg or Intermediate Care (IMC) if needed.
- Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if necessary.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required.
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- BLS issued by American Heart Association.
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association.
- NIH Certification.
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Critical Care Float experience, including experience within the last year.
- ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience required.
- Experience in CVICU, Neuro ICU, and Burn ICU.
- Travel nursing experience preferred.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
Other
- Valid Driver's License.
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Completion of specialty competency exams with minimum 80% passing score (Ascension Specialty Exam, EKG Exam).
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics with minimum 80% passing score.
- Completion of Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation.
- Health and immunization requirements including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted).
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
- TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray if positive, plus annual TB questionnaire.
- Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 or 1870+ masks), updated annually.
- Annual physical or statement of good health.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
Documentation & Verification
- Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references.
- Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, and National Sex Offender registry within 90 days of start.
- Employment verification for the past seven years.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
- Driver’s license or state ID current and matching address requirements.
- Signed assignment agreement and onboarding attestations completed onsite.
- Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters).
Additional Notes
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start.
- Must complete pre-hire modules and onboarding education attestations prior to clearance.
- Skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Floating assignments may require flexibility to work in multiple ICU specialties and Med/Surg/IMC units.
This position is ideal for ICU RNs comfortable with critical care environments, flexible with floating assignments, and proficient in EPIC documentation.
