ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: San Francisco, California

Contract Length: 25 weeks
Job Description
- Float pool position: ICU RNs will float across all Transitional Care Units (TCUs), ICUs, Emergency Department (ED), and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
- Must be able to float to multiple facilities and departments within the system.
- Rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night) on a 4-week schedule cycle; shifts may alternate between day and night every cycle.
- Candidates should confirm experience with ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and PA Catheters for faster processing.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience with ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and PA Catheters
Preferred Qualifications
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week).
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Current and valid driver’s license or government photo ID matching professional license.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender, and education verification.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work.
- Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, renewed every 2 years.
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations accepted except medical exemptions).
- Two negative TB tests (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-Spot) required before start.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: IGG titers or 2 vaccines required.
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination (declination must be signed within 1 year).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required). Onsite fit testing available as last resort.
- Pass/fail Telemetry exam and medication test on first day of orientation.
- Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams required annually with passing score of 80% or higher.
- Completion of required learning modules prior to or during orientation.
- Annual TB questionnaire and other facility-specific compliance forms required.
- Cyber Security Awareness Training and HIPAA Healthcare Provider Module with quizzes (passing score 80%+).
Important Notes
- Candidates must submit Return to Offer (RTO) at time of offer; late submissions will not be considered.
- Completed references must be submitted with application.
- Candidates must add RTO time back to the end of the contract.
- Pass/fail Telemetry exam is required for nurses working in critical care, emergency, and telemetry units.
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required as of current policy.
- This is a float pool role, not unit-based; flexibility and adaptability to multiple units and patient populations are essential.
