Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Georgia
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Patient Population

• Adults to Geriatrics

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Required Experience and Skills

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with management of dysrhythmias
• Central line care and management
• IV vasopressor administration
• CPAP/BiPAP experience
• Ventilated patient care

Work Environment and Systems

• Unit uses Pyxis medication system and Epic electronic health records
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Floating required within facility and possibly to a sister campus (within scope of practice)
• Weekend work: Every other weekend
• Call: None required
• Holiday work: Expected to work 1 or 2 major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Onboarding and Compliance

• Return to Orientation (RTO) required within a maximum of 7 days
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements needed to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

Required Pre-Employment and Ongoing Documentation

• Valid Georgia RN license verified within 30 days prior to start
• Annual Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• Background check completed within 30 days prior to start (including criminal, sex offender, education verification)
• Education verification of related degree required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
• TB testing (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or negative chest x-ray if prior positive test
• Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • TDAP highly recommended but not required
• Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required by agency)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ER and related units) with up to 3 attempts allowed
• Color blindness testing required

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
• Two clinical references required
• Candidate must review and sign facility’s Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
