Registered Nurse – Telemetry Float Pool
Location: Chandler, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)
Job Overview
Seeking experienced RNs for a travel contract in a telemetry float pool covering multiple units including Telemetry, Medical-Surgical, and Neuro. Floating between units and campuses is required, including occasional mid-shift floating and travel between two campuses approximately 9 miles apart.
Units Covered & Patient Types
CV Telemetry (B3A)
- 32 beds, centralized telemetry monitoring
- Patient types: post cath lab, post vascular procedures, day 2 CABG, general telemetry
- Common drips: Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine (titrate down only)
- No pediatric patients (minimum age 15 years)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Orientation: 2 days on floor
Neuro Telemetry (A3 Neuro)
- 28 beds, centralized telemetry monitoring
- Patient types: neuro post-surgical, post craniotomy, spine, CVAs post TPA
- No ICP monitoring
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Orientation: 2 days on floor
Medical-Surgical (C5)
- 32 beds (Ortho, Surgical, Oncology)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (including one major and one minor holiday)
- Patient types: ortho (knee/hip replacements), urological, abdominal, Whipple, women’s surgeries (no OB/GYN)
- Orientation: 2 shifts on floor
Medical-Surgical (B2C)
- 29 beds, general MedSurg with telemetry
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (including one major and one minor holiday)
- Patient types: general MedSurg requiring telemetry, Amiodarone, Cardizem (titrate down only)
- Orientation: 2 shifts on floor
- New grad training unit with clinical scholar support for 4 weeks
Key Responsibilities
- Float between Telemetry, MedSurg, ICU, Cardiac Tele, and other units as needed
- Interpret EKGs and titrate cardiac drips
- Pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract start (max 2 attempts)
- Pass a pass/fail simulation lab on day 1 of orientation
- Clock out/in when traveling between campuses
- Work with centralized telemetry monitoring systems
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Active Arizona RN license or compact license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (for Neuro unit)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of current telemetry nursing experience
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Must be able to titrate cardiac drips
- COVID-19 vaccine required or approved declination with supporting documentation
- Weekend and holiday work required as specified per unit
- Scrub color: Navy
- No ventilator patients on these units
- Hospitalist available during day and on-call at night
- Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
- Charge nurse roles available; charge nurses do not have patient assignments
- Patient care technicians support staffing ratios
