Registered Nurse (Medical/Surgical)
Location: Waterloo, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (Night Shift)
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule Notes: Every third weekend required; must work on Christmas
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a medical/surgical unit.
- Telemetry experience implied by job title but focus is medical/surgical specialty.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing within the last year.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Health and Safety Requirements
- Fit Test (for respirators or similar equipment).
- Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen (must be completed and resulted before start; excludes THC).
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Proof of vaccine, booster by Sept 2025, or approved declination/exemption (declination not accepted in CA or IL).
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional but recommended (declination accepted except in CA or IL).
- MMR: Proof of two vaccinations or immunity titer required.
- Hepatitis B: Must have started vaccination series prior to start; titers not accepted.
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) for TB screening; positive TB requires chest x-ray per regional guidelines.
- Varicella: Proof of vaccination or immunity titer required.
- Tdap: Current, non-expired vaccine required; declination accepted if no pediatric interaction.
- Physical/Health Statement: Documentation within the last year confirming fitness to work.
- Color Vision test required.
Professional and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal Background Check: Federal, nationwide, and county checks from last 7 years, including SSN verification, dated within 30 days of start.
- Education Verification: Highest academic degree or diploma/GED verified by third party.
- Employment Eligibility Verification (I9) completed by agency.
- Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, Conflict of Interest, Integrity and Audit Services, Non-Employee Upload, and System Access forms must be signed and uploaded as required.
- Exclusion and Sanctions Checks: EPLS, OIG, NSO, OFAC reports dated within 30 days of start.
- Specialty-specific competency and Joint Commission CORE exam within the last year.
- Iowa-specific: Child and Adult Dependent Abuse Training and Iowa Sing Report (criminal history and abuse registries) required within 30 days prior to start.
