Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (PCU Float Pool)
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (7am–7pm)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Summary
Seeking travel RNs for a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with PCU float responsibilities. The unit is a 49-bed telemetry/medical floor with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio. Nurses will care for patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COVID, respiratory issues, GI problems, diabetes, post-cath care, and total joint replacements.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of Arizona
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing
- Minimum 1 year experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- ACLS and BLS certifications (must be current)
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
- Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips; RN required to interpret and sign strips at least once per shift
- Experience with CVA and TIA patients preferred
- Experience with total joint replacement patients preferred
- Cerner electronic medical record experience recommended (orientation is only one day)
Unit Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- Nurse Aide ratio: 1:10–15
- Common titratable drips: Diltiazem/Cardizem at set rates (RNs are not required to titrate drips)
- Respiratory equipment used: BiPAP, CPAP, breathing treatments
- Charge Nurse and House Supervisor available
- Floating: May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
Scheduling & Work Requirements
- 12-hour day shifts (7am–7pm)
- Schedules made 4 weeks in advance with self-scheduling subject to manager approval
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Holiday requirement: Work 2 days and an evening or 2 evenings and a day during Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving
- No call or standby requirements
Additional Notes
- Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any affiliated facilities within the past year
- Orientation: One shift of unit-specific orientation
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required
