ICU Registered Nurse (RN) - 2E SICU

Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Day: 12
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Overview

• 16 beds plus 2 procedural beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • 1:2 standard ICU patients
  • 1:1 for higher acuity patients (e.g., CRRT, immediate post-op heart patients, MTP, OPO)
  • 1:3 for med-surg/floor status patients
• Patient population includes cardiovascular surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, AAA), trauma (level 2 trauma center), NSTEMI/STEMI, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, ENT surgery, and other surgical ICU patients
• Intensivist and respiratory therapist coverage 24/7
• Respiratory equipment includes ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, etc.
• No telemetry/monitor techs on unit; RNs read and document their own telemetry strips using GE monitors
• Charge nurse present every shift, usually does not take patient assignments unless census requires
• Nursing assistants available during day shift (one per unit); typically no NA on night shift

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license appropriate for Wisconsin
• ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience with high acuity ICU patient populations required
• Experience with CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO is desirable but not required
• Ability to titrate drips including epinephrine, norepinephrine, propofol, precedex, vasopressin, dobutamine, heparin, insulin, dopamine, neosynephrine, milrinone
• Must be able to care for immediate post-op heart patients (POD 1) who require 1:1 nursing care

Scheduling & Work Requirements

• Every other weekend and every other holiday required (more if willing/able)
• Floating required: able to staff in SICU, MICU, or serve as patient observer within hospital if not needed in ICU units
• Call or standby only during scheduled shift if census is low
• Staff self-schedule; agency nurses scheduled to unit needs with approved RTO considered
• Clean and professional dress code; no specific scrub color required

Orientation & Onboarding

• One day system onboarding and computer-based training (CBT)
• Two orientation shifts on unit with skills checklist completion required

Additional Notes

• Clinicians who have previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
