Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Kansas, Garden City

Job Details

• Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
• Location: Garden City, Kansas
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday
• Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Call Requirements:

  • Evening and weekend call required
  • Weeknight call shift: 3:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Weekend call shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
  • Holiday call required
  • Call response time: 30 minutes
  • Most staff take Saturday and Sunday call together, but not mandatory

Unit Information

• 4 Operating Rooms and 1 GI Endoscopy Room
• Average of 10 cases per day
• Common cases include robotic/laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, appendectomies, basic orthopedic, gynecology, and podiatry procedures
• Staffing includes at least 1 OR tech and 1 float assistant per case
• No scrubbing required for RNs
• Charge nurse and house supervisor roles exist but this position will not cover those roles
• EMR system used: Epic
• No floating outside of OR; may float within designated zone if extreme need arises

Orientation & Onboarding

• Unit/department-specific orientation with checkoffs for contract staff
• Time with staff until comfortable
• Orientation scheduled during regular day shift hours
• Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if some modules are remote

Required Certifications & Skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association required
• Experience with robotic surgery and GI procedures preferred

Additional Notes

• Dress code: Ceil blue scrubs provided
• Must submit a valid driver’s license (within 60-mile radius)
• Hiring process includes profile review and interview with unit manager
