Registered Nurse – PCU Float (Travel/Contract)
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Float assignment covering Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) diagnoses.
- Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics.
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- PCU: 1:4-5
- MS/MS Telemetry: 1:5-6
- Floating required to all MS, MS Telemetry, and PCU units within the hospital.
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract).
- Call: None.
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday occurs during assignment, expected to work it.
- If 2 major holidays occur, expected to work both.
- If 3 major holidays occur, expected to work 2 of them.
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.
- Required to wear navy blue scrubs.
- Electronic health record system: Epic (required). Other systems: Pyxis, SBAR.
- Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum: 7 days.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Current ACLS certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Additional Information
- Floating between units is mandatory.
- Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).
- Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; non-compliance may delay start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling.
- Locals accepted at the same rate.
This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are flexible and comfortable floating across multiple adult and geriatric care units, including telemetry and progressive care settings.
